It's a glorious, ordinary Sunday. The air and sky are refreshed after the rains of the past few days. The moderate temperature beckons one to be outside.
This morning I carefully and triumphantly carried (in a large pink plastic ladle) one tadpole that had washed out of its home in the "moat" around the oil storage tanks at the top of our ranch - how frogs survive in that poisonous water is beyond me - and placed it in the dogs' blue pool. I assumed he (or she) would have the place to itself, but then I noticed something interesting. There was a strange texture to the otherwise clear water. Another clutch of frog eggs had been deposited into the pool! The eggs are barely noticeable today, but I bet by tomorrow afternoon they will be noticeably bigger. Life continues. Our more mature tadpole will soon have some companions.
Otherwise my Sunday has proceeded as normal. Waffles and chai tea (using my own dry tea recipe) for our leisurely breakfast, then penance on the treadmill, lunch and dinner prep, vacuuming, a little painting, and photography. Soon it will be time to take the dogs on their late afternoon walk. Then it's dinner time. We'll finish up watching The Biggest Little Farm (I'm not sold on this documentary; it's emotionally manipulative and strikes me as contrived. But the animals and the landscape imagery are beautiful.). There will be a short amount of time for reading (14 Minutes: The Last Voyage of the Empress of Ireland) before my eyelids droop and I surrender to a good night's rest. Then it is off to the races again on Monday.
