There is a kind of cloud that puzzles me. It is a cloud that nearly fills the sky yet never seems to block out the sun. It is, I believe, unique to the warmer months. It is also one of my favorite type of clouds, right up there with pre-rain mammatus clouds.
These clouds both delight and frustrate me. They delight me for the drama they bring to the sky; soaring mounds of fluffy white with light gray, flat bottoms. They are tantalizing puffs of whipped cream floating slowly across a syrup of vivid blue atmosphere. The frustration comes when seeking the shelter of cloud shade. Somehow these enormous white battleships miss the blazing sun.
